Reports To: Special Events Coordinator & BPOA Board of Directors

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As the Events and Marketing Intern, you will play a supporting role in our team, primarily focusing on the execution and promotion of The Local and other event campaigns. This role is responsible for supporting an event through its lifecycle from ideation, logistical organization, vendor relations, event management, and event marketing. As an intern, you can expect to be a part of a dynamic team responding adapting to events as they occur, and forecasting how they can expect programming to adapt over time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Event Coordination
Event setup and assistance at The Local and assigned Special Events in an outdoor environment during various states of weather

Content Creation
Create and edit content for various platforms including social media posts, blog articles, newsletters, and other digital and print promotional materials

Communications
Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and community partners to ensure clear communication and coordination of marketing initiatives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

– Currently enrolled in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program with suggested areas of study including Recreation and Park Management, Tourism Sciences, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Communication, or Marketing
– Available Tuesdays from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and occasionally on weekends as needed
– Must live in Bryan/College Station, TX, or surrounding area
– Must be able to lift and carry at least 25lbs occasionally
– Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license

RECOMMENDED SKILLS & PROFICIENCIES

– Beginner-level experience with the following programs is recommended: Canva, Google Suite, Constant Contact, and Wix
– Preferred experience in an events, marketing, or hospitality role
– Basic knowledge of social media content creation and engagement strategies

TRAINING

Provided as needed by department coordinators and director.
