The Active Texan Triathlon Returns to Lake Walk This Sunday
Athletes from across the Brazos Valley will swim, bike, and run through Lake Walk and the Traditions community on October 11, supporting a meaningful local cause.
Athletes and supporters will gather in Bryan on October 11 for a morning of competition, community, and giving back.
Lake Walk is gearing up for an exciting morning of athletic competition as The Active Texan Triathlon returns to Bryan, Texas, on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Bringing together experienced triathletes, first-time competitors, and relay teams, the annual event celebrates healthy living, determination, and community.
Now in its fourth year, The Active Texan Triathlon has become a popular addition to the Bryan-College Station athletic calendar. The sprint-distance event offers a challenging yet approachable introduction to multisport racing, with swimming, cycling, and running taking participants through Lake Walk and the surrounding Traditions neighborhood.
More than a race, the event supports First Win, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering children in the Brazos Valley, while honoring the life and legacy of John C. Webb Jr., a respected community leader who believed in faith, family, and service.

Three Disciplines, One Incredible Community
The competition begins with a 400-meter open-water swim at Lake Walk, followed by a cycling route through the scenic Traditions community and a 3.1-mile run that brings competitors back to Lake Walk for the finish.
Athletes will experience a course that combines the natural beauty of Lake Walk with the tree-lined roads and rolling landscape of the surrounding neighborhood. Friends, families, and supporters can gather to cheer on participants as they complete their race and celebrate their accomplishments.
The event welcomes athletes of varying experience levels. For those looking to complete their first triathlon, the sprint format offers a manageable introduction to the sport. Seasoned competitors can put their training to the test, while the relay division allows teams of three to share the experience, with each member completing one portion of the race.
Participants will receive chip-timed results and finisher medals, with a post-race celebration planned at Lake Walk.
Racing for a Cause That Matters
At the heart of The Active Texan Triathlon is a commitment to making a difference beyond the finish line.
This year’s event benefits First Win, an organization that supports and empowers children throughout the Brazos Valley. The race honors John C. Webb Jr., whose dedication to his family, faith, and community helped inspire the organization’s mission.
By participating in the triathlon, athletes have an opportunity to support that mission while celebrating a life dedicated to helping others.
The result is an event where personal achievement and community service go hand in hand, reminding participants that every finish line can represent something greater than an individual accomplishment.

A Weekend of Activity at Lake Walk
