3 Ways to Support Small Businesses during COVID-19

Tuesdays at Lake Walk are typically our favorite day of the week. Every spring and fall, Tuesday afternoons consist of our weekly market, The Local, which showcases artisans, farmers, producers, and crafters from across the Brazos Valley.

Due to COVID-19, our Spring 2020 season of The Local has looked a little different. While we are not able to physically support these businesses in person, we know there are a multitude of ways we can help even from our homes.

3 ways to support small businesses during COVID-19:

SHOP. FOLLOW. SHARE.

SHOP: Although we are not currently able to shop physically at The Local, that doesn’t mean we can’t do a little online shopping from our homes. Many businesses have online ordering and some are even offering incentives such as free shipping. Select vendors are offering gift certificates you can use for future purchases. Who couldn’t use some bath and body products to unwind? Or chips and salsa to snack on while binge watching that new Netflix series? Show your support and make a purchase today.

FOLLOW: Is making a purchase not feasible for your current situation? No worries! You can still show encouragement by following or liking these businesses on their social media accounts, like Facebook and Instagram. This ensures you will know of all of their future offerings, and it’s an easy way to support without directly spending money.

SHARE: Another way you can help these small, local businesses is by getting the word out about them. See a product or business you think a friend or family member would enjoy? Send them the link to the corresponding business, or direct them to lakewalktx.com/thelocal to check out all of our vendors.

You can see a complete list of vendors, product descriptions and photos, as well as links to their social media accounts at lakewalktx.com/thelocal.

Or, you can also view all of this information in one compact spreadsheet here.
