About the Big Barn Dance Music Festival

The Big Barn Dance Music Festival began as spontaneous Saturday night barn dances at Casa de Caballos Ranch near Taos, New Mexico, in the 1990s. Led by Michael Hearne and his band, South by Southwest, these gatherings blossomed into a cherished summer tradition, attracting top musical talent and devoted fans.

Launched as an official festival in 2003, it grew into a cornerstone of Southwestern music culture. Now, after 21 years in Taos, the Big Barn Dance is expanding to Bryan, Texas. In partnership with Destination Bryan, the festival brings its unique mix of live music, dancing, and authentic listening experiences to the Lone Star State.
